Beverley and Stephen had an intimate family wedding with 12 guests at The Langdale Chase Hotel on the shores of windermere. This is one of my favourite venues to shoot, everything is fantastic, the grounds, the views, the interior (always makes me think of a robber baron’s mansion!) and the staff. Clare, the owner, and Fay and Amy, the wedding coordinators are a very efficient and friendly team.

Podgy Paws, the keswick pet shop run by pete and chris, and of course their boxer sugs! have moved premises to a much bigger location on tithebarn st. With the tag line, everything for the outdoor dog, it is a popular stop for visitors and locals alike.

Kathryn & Mathew came in to the studio recently to pick the images for their wedding album.

They got married at the local church and had the reception at the lovely Grange Hotel, in their home town of Grange Over Sands. They must have had the fastest get away from the church I have ever seen!

They had the contemporary photo shoot at the hotel, which was particularly easy for me as Kathryn is quite obviously a very beautiful girl. They also had a rather groovy wedding cake, click more to see a selection of images from the day (including a shot of that cake at the end).

Interestingly (for us) we had photographed the wedding of Charlotte and Gareth,friends of the couple, at Armathwaite Hall near Keswick the previous year.

Anna had fallen in love with their album when she seen it, and booked us to cover her own wedding.

Its a nice change to get away from Cumbria and shoot somewhere else, and I will take 3or 4 weddings a year like this.

The shot of the couple strolling on the lawn is from Charlotte and Gareths wedding last year showing Armathwaite Hall in the lake district.

And the rather grand castle is Ripley Castle in Yorkshire, where Anna and Brendan got married a few weeks ago.

Anna is a no nonsense type of girl, and did not want a lot of fuss and kerfuffle over her photography,

The car driver coudn’t quite believe his luck when we told him there was no need to wait around for an hour just for a staged pic of the couple and their car! We had already got this shot of it as it was a stylish set of wheels.

The signing of the register is,thankfully, the real deal and not some silly mock up to which we are routinely subjected too by the registrars. The daily mail published a ridiculous article a few weeks ago about banning this shot. Many registrars still do not allow photographers to shoot during the ceremony(but video guys are ok for some strange reason), even though the modern documentary trend is to record what happens, and we have the capability to do this without flashes firing off everywhere.

I must stress that these harrogate registrars are the exact opposite, professional, friendly and a joy to work with. They helped make a great ceremony. And of course allowed me to photograph it as it unfolded.

Note the low angle of shooting so that no detaisl can possibly be read in the register, and used for identity fraud or all sorts of other terrible deeds. Now how hard is that to do?

(by the way, these register entries can be viewed by anyonea t the public registers office, hardly a secret are they ) Anyway, rant over, I’ll post more about this subject another time.

This wedding will be uploaded online when the couple have chosen their pics, Anna has already had a look but it’s only fair that Brendan gets to be here to help choose too.

When her mum and dad brought her in she was a little shy at first, but was soon dancing away in her new ballet outfit! Here’s a couple of images from the shoot;

She loves pink, so we gelled the background light for some shots.

The couple were up for our contemporary photoshoot, even tho it was freezing, and actually started snowing on the bride at one point!

This is a very important job indeed when a bride is getting ready in the morning!

Angela’s daughter enjoyed being a princess for the day.

Not too sure what was said during the ceremony here, but it obviously amused the couple!

after the ceremony, we got our photo shoot, and both Angela and Simon turned out to be naturals!

They had to take cover during the sudden snow shower.

Then we quickly shot some more portraits before Angela completely froze to death.

including the couples daughter Olivia who popped out for some quick portraits too.

Back inside the bride gets a warming drink and a hug from dad.

It was a great wedding in a great location and everyone looked like they had a thoroughly good time.

We are just waiting for Angela and Simon’s designer book to come back to us from Oz and Im pretty certain they will love it.
